Well, maybe it's not that bad, but he is slowly nudging his way into becoming a member of the family. Sara may argue that Spencer has already made him an unofficial member of their family. Tanner proved this this morning while I was making a caramel apple crisp. It was so funny, I feel it needed it's own post instead of just going on the quote wall. I knew Spence and Ryon would appreciate it, and Sara would sympathize with me.
Spence and Ryon LOVE watching Good Eats. I remember the first time Spence was over and he was talking about Alton Brown from the Food Network. I'd never heard of him. I told Spence his name sounded like a black guy who was really cool. Spencer laughed and said he was a total white guy, and one of the biggest nerds ever. Yup. So Spence and Ryon watch it religiously. Together. Apart. Spencer even used his Barnes and Noble gift card to buy like three of his books, so he has almost all the episodes ever recorded in printed text, right in his living room. Just last night Ryon suggested we have an Alton Brown party, and just make a bunch of Alton Brown food.
So this morning: Tanner and I had just finished melting the caramels, had poured them over the apple crisp and I'd slid it into the oven.
Tanner: "Mom, how did you know how to make this?"
Me: "I just found a recipe on the internet."
Tanner: "Well, maybe you should ask Alton Brown just in case you forget."
It really was funny. I think I can handle making my own apple crisp, but if I ever do forget how, Mr. Brown is the reigning food authority in this house. And it's true; if I ever saw an episode where he does make his own apple crisp, it would no doubt knock the one that is baking in the oven right now right out of the park. So thanks for the reminder, Tan. If I do forget, I will indeed consult Mr. Brown.

Lol. That is awesome. Alton Brown does have a lot of know how. We too have watched his show numerous times. However I keep the secret from my kids, they just think I'm a genuine. Muhaha.
Hahaha so funny! Yes I am sure Ryon told you about Spencer's scary dream that he had to tell me about right after waking up this morning. If not, call me, I'll share. Those boys sure do love AB! Looks like Tan is following right in their footsteps!
